Happy End of Year

Today I'm home alone after two weeks of hosting family and friends, and so far, today--the first day of my "vacation" and the last day of 2009--has treated me well. All day, I continue to recite what Laura said yesterday in class (which Ariane noted perfectly): "The way you end a cycle is the way you begin it." So I thank Laura for reminding me to take today to see BIG and to begin 2010 in an intentional way. I just finished my final practice of the year at home. The house quietly hummed familiar sounds and throughout each pose, I recited my sutra for 2010:

See the divine. Be the divine. Spread the divine.

Thanks to Laura and the LC Kula for all the endless inspiration. Have a happy end of the year.

Ariananda 2010 Sutra

every breath, rejoice
every breath, love

Can't wait to hear yours, friends! Thanks, Cheryl, for the big inspiration of your sutra last night in class. Yours paved the way for my own, in the middle of last night, by the light of the big blue moon.

Ending with gratitude and love!

Cruising into the last day of 2009, refreshed and energized by an awesome practice with Laura at Yoga of Sausalito this evening, Laura's words are echoing in my head:

The way you end a cycle, is the way you begin the next.

That last resounding Om of class, voices blended, hearts connected -- that Om is carrying me into tomorrow, and helping me celebrate all of the great, great gifts that 2009 delivered.

Great, great gifts, you ask?

Why yes: gifts like Trixie, Nancy, Barbara, Kalila, Jessica, Wendy, Jane, Erin, Karen, Emma, Diana, Brian, Eunice, Abe, Heather, Jim, Marci, Pamela, Alexandra, Gillian, Lani, Jami, Amy, Jennifer, Eileen, Aska, Robin, Ben, Joyce, Leila, Maggie, Michael, and LAURA of course. And there are others, too, but my memory has already gone to bed, while the rest of me sits here and types.

How grateful I am to each of you for the gift of your presence in my life, our fun times on the mat and off. Such a sweet blessing in an otherwise tough year, to have found myself part of this kula with you!

So, like I said, cruising into December 31, the last day of 2009, with a heart full of gratitude and love. And knowing that no matter what 2010 brings, my whole posse has my back.

Loving you, kula, loving you so much!

Om namah shivaya gurave: the guru principle

What a great class Laura led this morning at Yoga of Sausalito! Perfectly timed with where we're headed this weekend -- into the winter solstice, the longest night of the year -- Laura illuminated the theme of the guru we all have inside, that leads us from darkness into light. Our practice is about turning inward and tuning in to what that guru, that innate goodness that is the ultimate teacher, has to say. What a great time to listen in and hear what's being whispered for 2010...

Om namah shivaya gurave, friends!

Today's Title: Matrika Shakti blazes a trail to the heart!

This morning's class was amazing. If there is any area I need to turn my attention to, believe me it's Matrika Shakti -- ensuring that my words are in service, that they match my deepest intention...

Beyond the usual inspiration, I thought starting a blog for all of us would be a great way to continue the work on the mat. I thought it would be especially fun as a way for us to express what our sutras are for 2010 and then support each other in achieving them.

I don't know what mine is yet, but I know it has to do with creativity and freedom.

What's yours?

What thoughts do you have about the theme of the class today? How did it resonate for you?

This is the place - let's hear it!!

HUGE LOVE,
Ariane
